Telekom Veszprem to attack SEHA trophy once again
Telekom Veszprem will be going for the fourth SEHA - Gazprom League trophy. The reigning champions will have a chance to repeat their success at the same place in Zadar between 3rd and 5th September.
The Hungarian vice-champions had no problems with keeping their two-goal advantage from the first match in Nasice, as they triumphed once again against RK Nexe 30:25 (14:10) in front of home fans at Veszprem Arena.
The team led by Serbian coach Momir Ilic provided a good defensive performance with goalkeeper Vladimir Cupara on the helm. He managed to save 14 out of 39 shots, which propelled the Hungarian defense.
After 3:3 in the 9th minute, Hungarian team went on a 3:0 run which made a difference they couldn’t lose until the end. Led by Blaz Blagotinsek, Dejan Manaskov and Patrik Ligetvari in attack, the host roster led by four at the end of the first half.
In the second half, Veszprem’s players routinely kept the advantage. Dorijan Markusic scored a goal to put Nexe only 3 goals behind (23:20) 12 minutes before the buzzer, but that was the peak of the power of Branko Tamse’s team. Tomislav Severec and Mario Tomic scored 5 goals each and Mihailo Radovanovic had 13 saves on Nexe’s goal-line.
The TOP scorer of the winning team was Gasper Marguc with six goals.
