Hard fought win for Veszprem in Zagreb
In a SEHA derby hosted by PPD Zagreb on Saturday evening, Telekom Veszprem celebrated their eighth win of the season (23:26) handing Zagreb their third loss which means they will in a direct encounter against Meshkov Brest at home on Monday decide who will finish the regular season on second place in group A.
Match was tough and narrow from its very beginning with neither team managing to open the gap. Fans in Dom sportova sports hall have in the first half witnessed a battle of rock-solid defenses and as a result of that result was levelled at 13:13 after first 30 minutes.
Guests have opened the second half better playing much more aggressive on the defensive side of the court and as a result of that they started opening the gap. A little over ten minutes into the second it was +2 for Veszprem but 'Lions' were simply refusing to give up. They were able to stay close all the way until a bit over five minutes before the final buzzer when Dejan Manaskov scored on an empty net putting his team four goals ahead (20:24) and sealing the deal in this one.
