Vujovic: “Meshkov is a priority but we’ll look to win against Veszprem as well!”
PPD Zagreb will on Saturday evening (20.45 CET) play first out of their final two Group Phase matches hosting one of Europe’s strongest sides Hungarian Telekom Veszprem. Main goal for Croatian champions is to get at least one win, as they will only a few days later host Meshkov Brest, which would secure them second place in Group B and a direct ticket for SEHA quarter-finals.
Veszprem are currently holding the first place but despite of that they’ll without doubt come to Zagreb to reach another victory and finish the first part of the season off on a high note. In their premier encounter of the season Veszprem managed to secure a convincing 36:28 win.
Match will be broadcasted on Arena Sport (in Croatia), Spiler (in Hungary) and Sport TV (in Slovenia) so stay tuned!
Veselin Vujovic, PPD Zagreb coach:
Telekom Veszprem have a team which is built to be a European champion. Difficult match is ahead of us but to be honest, match against Meshkov is really the one we’re focusing on. Despite of that however, be sure we’ll do everything we can to come out on top in both of those encounters.
Darko Stojnic, PPD Zagreb player:
We prepared well for this one. I believe the key thing will be our defense which will have to perform on the highest possible level. They are a top-tier team with a lot of great players but we also have a good team and we shouldn’t be afraid of anyone. We’ll make sure to deliver a good outing and let the best team win!
David Davis, Telekom Veszprem coach:
This will be our last match of the year and as always we’ll do our best to win it. We have to give everything we have to finish the first part of the season on a high note.
Petar Nenadic, Telekom Veszprem player:
This will be our last match of the year. Goal is to win it of course although we’re aware it will be a tough one. I hope we’ll be able to deliver a good performance and come out on top. We’re now quite tired, November and December were quite exhausting and after this one it’s time to get some rest before the second part of the season.
