Igor Vori seals the deal as PPD Zagreb edge NEXE
Another Croatian derby - another PPD Zagreb victory but it would be wrong to say it was just 'another day in the office' for the team from Zagreb. In the end 29:30 after an excellent match and great resistance by the team from Slavonia in front of their fans in Nasice.
Home team had a good approach from the very beginning. They were building on their defense managing to keep the gap open throughout the bigger part of the first half. About ten minutes before the end of the first Hrstic and Bicanic led PPD Zagreb' series which brought them the lead which didn't last long with coach Hrvoje Horvat calling a time-out and giving his team some quality instructions which resulted with NEXE's one-goal lead at the half-time. Second half was as narrow as the first, even better for all the fans in the stands with the result being close all the way until the end when Bicanic put Zagreb 28:29 up. Marko Buvinic managed to level things up but not for long with Igor Vori sealing the deal scoring on empty net.
Zlatko Horvat scored 9 for PPD Zagreb, Damir Bicanic added 8. Urh Kastelic had 12 saves. Marin Jelinic on the other side scored 8, Marko Buvinic added 5 with amazing 8 assists. NEXE will on Tuesday play Vojvodina in Novi Sad and Zagreb will on Wednesday host Tatran in Varazdin.
