Gonzales: "Metalurg played good, they were highly motivated"
Vardar - Metalurg 31:24 (12:14)
(Dibirov 10, Borozan 7, Shishkarev 5 / Gugleta 5, Jaganjac 4, Pesevski 4)
Aleksandar Jovic, Metalurg coach:
We are pleased with our performance today as I believe we’ve played well. We did struggle throughout the big part of the game but players gave all they had today. Vardar are marvelous this season and I wish them nothing but the best. We on the other hand wish to continue working with younger Macedonian players who will hopefully find a place for themselves on Macedonian national team roster for EURO.
Martin Velkoski, Metalurg player:
I’m satisfied with the way we performed today giving our best and being able to stay close for about 40 minutes. We all know about budget differences between Metalurg and Vardar and the fact that we were able to remain competitive for 40-45 minutes must satisfy us.
Raul Gonzales, Vardar coach:
Metalurg performed very good today, they were even better than us in the first half cousing us many problems in defense. In the second half we were way better, scored a few easy goals in transition but we also managed to take advantage of the fact they were a bit tired and slowed down. Metalurg played good, they were highly motivated and I’d like to congratulate them.
Daniel Gjorgjeski, Vardar player:
We played to different half-times today. As coach said, in the first our defense was not on the right level but in the second we managed to make things work turning the match in our favor. I see this as an amazing opportunity for me to play beside the best goalkeeper in the world.
