Timur Dibirov scores in double digits as Vardar overrun Metalurg in the second half
Vardar needed only twenty minutes to show why they are reigning champs of both SEHA and Champions League. They did not only win the match but did it in a dominant way with 31:24 proving that they are still in top form despite of the fact that the end of the first part of the season is right around the corner. This was their ninth triumph over Metalurg in SEHA - Gazprom League which helped them prolong the perfect streak to 16 in SEHA Gazrpom League and 15 in 2017/2018 season overall.
Macedonian derby also had a charity character with the income from the tickets being intended for the surgery of young Borce Jovanovski who should immediately go abroad and undergo bone marrow transplantation surgery. Both teams joined the action wishing him fast recovery with Vardar also sending him their jersey.
Metalurg opened the match well leading 9:6 less than 20 minutes into the match even enlarging the lead to +4 (13:9) five minutes later. That is however when Vardar started playing way better in both directions reducing the difference to only two by the end of the first.
Guests were able to stay in this one for about ten more minutes into the second half when 'Red&Black' simply shifted into a higher gear storming away with this one winning the second half 19:10 for final 31:24. Timur Dibirov scored 10 for Vardar, Aleksandar Gugleta 5 for Metalurg.
