Gorenje finally travel home from Skopje with points
Absence of two of Gorenje’s most important players Alem Toskic and Matjaz Brumen was not so obvious with Gorenje finally managing to take three points home from Skopje - first time ever in SEHA Gazprom League. Metalurg failed to prolong the good series losing 24:29 (14:16) which means they are now one point behind Slovenians on League table.
Coach Babic stated before the match that full focus will be necessary for them in this one and that only with such an approach they can hurt Metalurg. Unfortunately for home fans - that is exactly what happened. Gorenje played a great team match using every chance boosting themselves with self -confidence after series of defeats. Match was completely levelled and narrow all the way until 5 minutes before the final whistle when guests managed to take advantage of some unforced errors Metalurg made enlarging the gap wider than it seemed it will be.
Hosts were trying to catch Gorenje throughout the full course of the match and in such occasions it is not a rare thing to see a team which is behind all the time fall in the end and fail to turn the match around in its late stage.
Metalurg will now have a longer SEHA break all the way until November 15 when they will visit Meshkov. Gorenje will on the other side play in Novi Sad on October 22.
