Asanin explodes with 16 saves as ‘Lions’ dominate Tatran in Zagreb
PPD Zagreb have with another strong outing and, in the end, dominant victory managed to officially become first participants of 2020 SEHA – Gazprom League Final 4 tournament which will be held in Zadar, Croatia. Despite of the fact they have already in the first leg in Slovakia managed to make a big step towards the final tournament, coach Vujovic and his guys managed to find the right motivation and deliver another strong performance in one of league’s classics.
‘Lions’ opened the match better enlarging the gap to four goals ten minutes into the encounter. Guests however refused to give up early playing better on both sides of the court and not allowing Zagreb to additionally widen the gap in the first. At the half result was 12:9 in favor of coach Vujovic and his players.
PPD Zagreb weren’t able to sail away early in the second half either with Tatran putting in strong effort to stay close. However, 15 minutes before the final buzzer, young Zvonimir Srna scored his first SEHA goal to put his team six goals ahead (18:12) which sealed the deal in this one. After that it felt like there was only one team out there on the court with hosts opening the gap all the way to final +12 (28:16).
Zlatko Horvat and Milos Bozovic were leading PPD Zagreb offensively in this one scoring six each as well as Ante Gadza who finished the match with eight assists. Matej Asanin on the other hand delivered one of his best performances of the season grabbing 16 saves and stopping incredible 50% of shots heading his way. Pedro Pacheco on the other side once again led Tatran scoring four (4/13).
