Rejuvenated Veszprem versus Russian vice-champions
In what will be their sixth SEHA appearance this season Telekom Veszprem will on Tuesday (17.15 CET) welcome Russian vice-champions Spartak Moscow. In the first part of the season Veszprem managed to defeat Spartak away from home 23:26 without many of the first-team players and that is exactly what they will try to do on Tuesday as well led by youth team coach and club's legend Peter Gulyas. Fifth win of the season will most definitely be a priority for Hungarians.
Speaking of Russians, they will be looking for what would be their second win in five matches and second one in a row after they came up on top of Metaloplastika in the last round.
Peter Gulyas, Telekom Veszprem youth team coach:
Opportunity to let younger players prove what they're capable of on SEHA stage against a team like Spartak means a lot. Away game was a big win for us, not only because of the end result but because of the confidence boost for those players. Spartak however went through the coaching change in the meantime and will most definitely look to deliver an even better outing than they did in Moscow in our premier clash of the season. My wish is for fans to come to the arena and support these young players who don't need to feel any pressure but try to enjoy the moment and show what they can. Working on our youth academy is definitely something we care a lot about and we'd like to come out victorious tomorrow.
Bence Szucs, Telekom Veszprem player:
Coaching change in Moscow resulted in a new defensive scheme. However, I hope it won’t cause us too much trouble since we’ve spent a lot of time preparing for this one. Goal is to win the match tomorrow.
Igor Levshin, Spartak coach:
Veszprem have some really good young players, they proved that in Moscow. This will be a tough match for us but we’ll do our best to take revenge. They have a very good, quality team even when they are playing with their second unit which is why we have to be fully focused.
Ilya Ryabov, Spartak player:
We are really excited for the game in Veszprem. I’m really glad we’ll have a chance to play them on their court and I’m sure it will be a tough but interesting match. It would really be nice to see our fans there on Tuesday because we really need their support in this one.
