Unbelievable Eurofarm Rabotnik outplayed Telekom Veszprem in SEHA Derby
It looked like an "impossible mission" but Eurofarm Rabotnik's players achieved a great result, beating the two-times SEHA champions, Telekom Veszprem 26:24 (14:8), making a huge surprise in Group B. Only a few teams can say that they beat Telekom Veszprem, and now the pride of Bitola are on that list.
Telekom Veszprem arrived in Bitola without Arpad Sterbik, Petar Nenadic and Vuko Borozan. They were never in the lead during this match and managed to tie the result only a few times.
The match started with excellent performance from Eurofarm's goalkeeper Nikola Mitrevski as he made seven saves in the first 12 minutes, and guests scored their first goal after 5 minutes. This was a sign that Eurofarm Rabotnik will give their maximum on the court. When the guest team's coach David Davis asked for time out in 16th minute, they were already four goals down.
By the end of the first half the guests managed to score some goals, but not to reduce the advantage of Eurofarm Rabotnik. The home players played well not only in the defense where they were maximally aggressive, but also in the attack.
The second half started in the same style as all the matches in the EHF Champions League. Veszprem began to reduce the results. They catched up in the 48th minute. However, Neven Stjepanovic struck for 26:24, and then the guests made a foul in the attack after which is was clear that the victory and three points will stay in Bitola.
Lovro Jotic with 8 goals was the best scorer in Eurofarm Rabotnik's squad, together with Neven Stjepanovic who netted 5 goals. On other side, Dragan Gajic scored 9 goals for Telekom Veszprem.
In the next round Eurofarm Rabotnik will play against PPD Zagreb on October 5th, and Telekom Veszprem will host Meshkov Brest on the same day.
