Zagreb display pure dominance against Spartak
PPD Zagreb have in Dom sportova 2 sports hall on Wednesday night displayed pure dominance defeating rejuvenated Spartak team 23:39 in what was a postponed round four SEHA - Gazprom League match.
Zagreb were proving why they were given a favorite role before the match from the very first minute of the encounter. “Lions“ were disciplined and focused on the defensive side of the court which provided them with multiple opportunities to score easy, counter-attack goals - mainly over their wingers Eres and Ravnic who have in first 30 minutes combined for eight goals. By that Asanin added seven saves and there was simply no way for guests to cope with Zagreb today. In the end of the first it was already 21:8 which meant the deal has obviously been sealed even before the first whistle of the second half.
In the second half hosts were able to keep the tempo up high enlarging the gap all the way until final +16 (23:39).
In what was an easy win and a good chance for Zagreb to test various attacking options prior to the trip to Hungary and VELUX EHF Champions League clash against MOL-Pick Szeged, Valentino Ravnic scored eight goals while Nenad Kosteski and Josip Vekic added five each. On the other hand Danila Sazonov led Spartak with eight.
In the next round PPD Zagreb will travel to Bitola to meet Eurofarm Rabotnik and Spartak will welcome Meshkov Brest.
