Tradition is on Telekom Veszprem’s side: Hungarian champions win SEHA derby against Meshkov Brest
Hungarian champions celebrate the brilliant 28:27 (16:14) win against Meshkov Brest in the first SEHA derby of the season. This was Telekom Veszprem’s 10th win against the team from Brest.
Home team had almost one minute to score a goal for a tie, but the last shoot from Alexander Shkurinskiy flew over the goal. On the other side, Veszprem’s Petar Nenandic scored twice in the last moments of the match and secured the win for his team.
The teams were equal until the 16th minute of the first half when William Accambray scored for 8:8. After that, the guests made a turnover (8:10) and they kept that advantage until the end of the first half. At the end of the thrilling second half Hungarian team managed to secure three points.
Darko Djukic with 8 goals and Marko Panic with seven were best scorers in Meshkov’s squad and goalie Ivan Matskevich had seven saves. On the guest’ side, Vladimir Cupara had 11 saves and Rasmus Lauge Schmid netted six times.
In the next round Meshkov Brest will face Russian Spartak while Telekom Veszprem will host PPD Zagreb on the 7th of September.
