Croatian and Slovenian vice champions face-off in Nasice
'Thunders from Krndija hill' will on Wednesday (20.30 CET) in their King Tomislav sports hall in Nasice host Gorenje Velenje. In opening three rounds of the season both teams have managed to record one victory and two defeats which puts them next to each other on League's table.
Last season Gorenje managed to reach a win at home beating Nexe 24:20 with Croatian vice-champions taking revenge at home (29:27). This all means we are poised for another derby of big rivals and a tough, narrow match of League's 'dark horses' for the season that are eager to surprise everyone and maybe even in the end secure a Final Four position.
Hrvoje Horvat, Nexe coach:
We're playing hot'n'cold so far this season. That's why we were forced to make some corrections ahead of this match in order to of course avoid these 'black holes'. Gorenje can be a very unpleasant team which will now have confidence after CL victory. We've already played them once this season, on a tournament in Austria, but after that we've both experienced quite a few roster changes. It will be a different match. We will have all players on disposal, except for Juric-Grgic and Gadza who are dealing with long term injuries. Of course, I'd also like to invite fans to come and support our young team.
Patrik Leban, Nexe player:
Gorenje will have a lot of confidence after CL win over Ademar Leon. It will be a very tough match but we won't surrender. They are an experienced team and I believe their most dangerous players are Toskic and Brumen. However, we'll play at home and our goal is to win as well as celebrate with our fans afterwards.
Zeljko Babic, Gorenje Velenje coach:
I expect a tough game. We are a bit tired after our CL game last weekend. Nexe are a very good team, especially at their home court so I see them as favorites in this match. We will try to beat them, counter their fast handball by playing good and well-focused in transition.
Ibrahim Haseljic, Gorenje Velenje player:
I expect us to play better against Nexe than we did on the tournament in Austria back in August. At the time we were a bit too relaxed in the end of the match giving our rivals a chance to take a win. We'll have to be smarter now, Nexe have a young team which is known for its fighting spirit. However, we also have to show our strengths.
Match will be broadcasted on EHF TV as well as Arena Sport channels.
