Darko Arsic catches fire as Metalurg rush past Nexe
Macedonian vice-champions Metalurg now have two wins in a row after a 29:22 (15:10) triumph over Nexe in SEHA - Gazprom League Round 3. Simply said - in the duel of two of the youngest SEHA teams hosts managed to use all the chances they were given.
It can be really hard to play Lino Cervar and his players on their court, especially when goalkeeper Darko Arsic catches fire early. Goalie had 11 saves including one 7-meter shot stop along with Zarko Pesevski who dominated Nexe’s defense scoring 6 from 7 attempts.
Metalurg’s aggressive defense was simply a lock Croatian vice-champions were not able to find a key for today. Match was narrow until 5:5 when Macedonians enlarged the gap to 5 (10:5). Nexe eventually managed to cut the difference to only 2 (11:9) but when Gugleta netted one for 24:26 with a little less than 15 minutes left to play it is safe to say the deal was sealed.
Main reason for a big loss were Nexe’s technical mistakes with Metalurg’s power play actions once again proving to be a deadly weapon.
Vanja Ilic and Zarko Pesevski led scorers with 6 each for Metalurg. Arsic added 11 saves. On the other side Marin Sipic scored 4 for guests as well as Sasa Barisic Jaman.
In the next round Metalurg will travel to Novi Sad and Nexe will welcome Gorenje.
