Spartak have once again failed to surprise rejuvenated team of Telekom Veszprem. After defeating them 26:23 in their premier encounter of the season, Hungarians were this time, in front of their fans, better with 37:32.
Hosts started the game furiously taking a seven-goal lead a little over ten minutes into this one which in the end proved to be decisive since Russians never really managed to recover and get all the way back into this one. Veszprem were today on the court led by two experienced players – Dejan Manaskov who played a terrific match exploding for 10 goals from 11 attempts while Borut Mackovsek added six. Apart from the two, Veszprem have once again showcased the potential their younger players have with Bence Hornyak finishing the match with six while Mark Daniel Bodor netted five.
Spartak on the other hand arrived to Hungary seriously shorthanded – with only eight players and two goalies. Ilya Rabov stood out finishing the match with eight goals from just as much attempts while Mikhail Vinogradov scored five to go along with six assists.
With this win Veszprem have now improved to 5-1 and are safely cruising towards the regular season top spot in group B. Spartak, on the other hand, now have four losses and one victory which is good enough for fifth position in the same group.
