Meshkov still in race for F4
Although they are having a 3-game winning streak, Meshkov still have chance to reach third place in SEHA GSS League after the regular part of the season and have a better starting position for F4. To do that, Babić' players have to beat Macedonian champions Metalurg.
Meshkov are currently fifth with 27 points, three less than PPD Zagreb and Tatran. Triumph would bring them into a narrow third-place race. Guests have decided to take 15 players to Brest but they will surely do everything to try to surprise favorized hosts and secure sixth position.
Želјko Babić, Meshkov’s coach:
After three defeats in a row we’ve lost a bit of self-confidence and we’re not in the best possible position ahead of this match. However, we have to continue with hard work and it will surely pay off, sooner or later. Our goal remains the same and in order to reach it we have to beat rejuvenated Metalurg. I believe that in case we manage to find motivation and prepare mentally everything will be OK. Ivan Pešić has slight injury problems and it is most likely that we’ll let him take some rest, we need him for future challenges.
Sergey Shylovich, Meshkov’s player:
In this match we are clear favorites in my opinion. We know that we still haven't lost a match against Metalurg but I am also sure we'll have to perform well to keep that streak alive. Our goal is to reach the F4 and only thing we want from this match is 3 points.
Lino Červar, Metalurg's coach:
Hard week is ahead of us with three away matches - against Meshkov, NEXE and Borac. I don't think it is bad, I believe it is a great chance for our youngsters to gain experience. I believe they'll do everything they can in matches ahead of us.
Marko Buvinić, Metalurg's player:
Matches like these are very important for me as a new player in the team in order to fit in more easily. Bad news for us was that Filip Taleski won't be able to play in Brest but I'm sure other will give their maximum in front of Belarus audience.
