Veszprem's first loss and Zagreb's stunner against PSG with CL's winter break ahead of us
First part of the Champions League is over. Europe's biggest club competition will continue in February with remaining two group phase matches after which we will know which are currently 16 best teams in Europe.
SEHA GSS League's clubs have so far shown great performances against some of Europe's best clubs. In the weekend behind us they have continued that tradition with 2 wins, 1 loss and a draw in match between Metalurg and Meshkov. Let's start!
Metalurg have in Skopje hosted another SEHA GSS derby of Champions League reaching a draw (27:27) against Belarus Meshkov from Brest. In a thriller match Manaskov was Metalurg's most valuable player with 8 goals, Mojsovski added 6. Stojković was on the other side best in Meshkov's lines, Božović and Manojlović have scored 5 each. Meshkov will after the winter break have a tough schedule traveling to Paris to play PSG and to Germany with a hope to surprise Kiel in the last round. Metalurg will also travel to Kiel and they will in the last round host another SEHA GSS derby, this time against PPD Zagreb.
Multiple Croatian champions are proving themselves as one of the biggest surprises of this season's Champions League. In front of more than 14,000 people in Arena Zagreb they have, after beating Kiel managed to celebrate against PSG! In a narrow 25:24 win Horvat and Obranović have scored 5

In group D MKB-MVM Veszprem have in Mannheim, Germany lost to Rhein-Neckar Löwen 32:25. In their first loss of the season best scorers were Ilić and captain Nagy both with 5 goals. Multiple Hungarian champions will after the break host Celje and then travel to Montpellier.
Vardar have on the other side managed to reach another win in Russia, against Chehovskie Medvedi. In a 34:39 win Karačić scored 8 goals, Toskić and Gorbok 5 each. After WC in Qatar SEHA GSS League's reigning champions will host Montpellier and then travel to Germany to play Rhein-Neckar Löwen. Despite of the loss Veszprem are still group leaders with 14 points, Vardar are second with 11. Momir Ilić is after 8 rounds EHF Champions League's second best scorer (after Kiril Lazarov) with 58 goals, Dibirov is sixth with 7 goals less and Meshkov's line player Rastko Stojković closes TOP 20 with 41 goal.
