Veszprem and Vardar extend winning streaks in CL, first win for Meshkov
Weekend behind us was reserved for Europe's strongest club competition - EHF's Champions League. In its second round, five SEHA GSS members competing in it have once again reached 3 wins. Vardar and MKB MVM Veszprem have remained unbeaten, Meshkov was in SEHA GSS derby of CL better than Metalurg and PPD Zagreb was not good enough for PSG.
Metalurg has after a tough first round match at home against PSG and a loss traveled to Brest, Belarus in search for this season's first points. This was, on the other side Meshkov's first ever home match in CL and they were surely ready to play a perfect match to make their fans proud. The result was in the end 28:24 for Meshkov with Nikulenkau scoirng 5, Vukić 4 for home team. Cindrić was on the other side unstoppable with 9 goals, Mirkulovski added 7.
Third SEHS GSS representative in group A, PPD Zagreb, was not good and concentrated enough in the end to surprise favorized Paris Saint Germain. Stepančić was best individual with 7 goals, Horvat added 5 in 27:22 loss.
Meshkov will in the next round host Kiel which was after opening loss to Zagreb at home better than La Rioja. PPD Zagreb will in another SEHA GSS clash of CL host Macedonian Metalurg.
In group C, Vardar was after a not so good opening against Celje PL in Slovenia confidently better than Russian Chehovskie Medvedi in their new 'Jane Sandaski' sports hall in Skopje. Final result was huge +11 for Macedonians - 39:28. 'Flying Russian' Timur Dibirov was once again remarkable with 8 goals, Alex Dujshebaev scored 7.
Veszprem was at home better than one of the best German teams - Rhein Neckar Löwen with 27:24. Ilić was once again MVP of the match and is after two rounds CL's best scorers with 20 goals. He has against RNL managed to score 9, Nagy and Sulić have added 4 each for hosts.
Veszprem will in the next round host French Montpellier which has one win (against Celje PL) and one loss (against RNL), and Vardar will in 'Jane Sandaski' play against Rhein Neckar Löwen.
