Preview EHF EURO 2022 group stage: Best of luck to seven SEHA – Gazprom League countries
2022 EHF EURO starts on Thursday which means it is time for us to get ready for it with a preview which will once again have our SEHA – Gazprom League both national teams as well as players in focus.
What we can be especially proud of is the fact that we’ll have seven SEHA national teams participating in the tournament, which will be played in Hungary and Slovakia – both of which have representative teams in our League.
Without further ado – let’s get into it!
Group A: Denmark – NORTH MACEDONIA – Montenegro – Slovenia
In Group A North Macedonia will, with players like Stoilov, Georgievski, Kosteski and Taleski in their roster face off against Montenegro, Slovenia – which will on this tournament be led by Meshkov’s own Stas Skube and Denmark – one of main title favorites. The group will be played in Debrecen, Hungary.
Group B: HUNGARY – Iceland – Netherlands – Portugal
Home of our SEHA – Gazprom League reigning champions Telekom Veszprem – Hungary will as one of the hosts welcome its group in Hungarian capital Budapest. Team which will feature players like Lekai, Ligetvari and Sipos will in three group stage matches against Iceland, Netherlands and Portugal surely look to secure three victories which would mean a lot for them and their ambitions to reach the semis on home court.
Group C: CROATIA – France – SERBIA – UKRAINE
In Group C we will have three of our SEHA representative national teams. Odds are looking the best for Croatia which will have Mandic, Srna and Sipic among others in their roster. Vojvodina’s Jovica Nikolic will, without doubt, despite of his young age, be one of the leaders of the Serbian national team and Ukraine will heavily rely on Motor Zaporozhye’s players with Dmytro Horiha being highlighted as one of their key players for this tournament. Matches will be played in Szeged, Hungary.
Group D: Austria – BELARUS – Germany – Poland
Belarusians will once again be led by Meshkov’s star players with deadly scorer Mikita Vailupau being their most dangerous offensive asset. The group will be played in Slovak capital Bratislava and it will be interesting to see how much they can do in a group which also features Germany, Austria and Poland.
Group E: Bosnia and Herzegovina – Czech Republic – Spain – Sweden
Group E is the only one which won’t feature a single SEHA – Gazprom League representative team. However, we’ll definitely keep an eye on one of the best SEHA goalies Rodrigo Corrales, Meshkov’s right back Stanislav Kasparek, Eurofarm’s engine Josip Peric as well as PPD Zagreb’s youngsters Adin Faljic and Edin Klis. The group will be played in Bratislava.
Group F: Lithuania – Norway – Russia – SLOVAKIA
Group F matches will be played in Kosice with hosts Slovakia aiming for the next round in a quality group. A lot will be expected of Oliver Rabek and other either current or former Tatran Presov members, especially in matches against Russia and Malasinskas-led Lithuania.
