Motor and Veszprem celebrate in Champions League, Nexe and Tatran in European League

Nexe

Another week of European competitions is behind us which means it is time for our weekly recap. This time we’ll talk about both EHF Champions League as well as EHF European League so let’s get started.

EHF Champions League

SEHA – Gazprom League representatives clubs in EHF CL group A were facing some tough challenges in round five eventually failing to secure any points.
Baptiste Bonnefond scored five, Stas Skube and Mikita Vailupau added four each for Meshkov Brest away from home against Montpellier which was in this one led by young Julien Bos who went off scoring 11 goals. In the end 32:26 for the French team.

Vardar 1961 were able to stay quite close to European vice-champions Aalborg playing in Denmark. In the end 33:28 for the Danish side. Incredible Timur Dibirov once again caught fire scoring nine goals while Alix Kevynn Nyokas scored six.
After a home draw against Norwegian Elverum a few rounds ago, Ivica Obrvan and his ‘Lions’ weren’t able to repeat the same away from home this time losing 30:25. Davor Cavar scored six for PPD Zagreb but Elverum’s goalie Emil Kheri Imsgard and his 16 saves were simply too much for Croatian champs to deal with in this one.

SEHA representatives in group B were however much more successful securing two victories. Motor were in Zaporozhye better than Dinamo Bucuresti with 28:27. Experienced Barys Pukhouski and Zakhar Denysov were leading them in this one scoring five each while goalie Gennadiy Komok grabbed 13 saves.

Telekom Veszprem were, on the other hand at home dominant against one of the surprises of this season’s CL so far, Flensburg. Manuel Strlek scored seven, Rasmus Lauge four in their 28:23 win against the Germans. Rodrigo Corrales added 13 saves.
