Vedran Supukovic, PPD Zagreb’s Director, revealed that the renowned handball player will remain in the club in the position of director for international relations and relations with handball institutions.
''I would like to thank the club for recognizing in me a person who will deal with communication in the new format of the Champions League, SEHA – Gazprom League and with the other clubs. I am having mixed feelings because I have been a professional athlete since I was 15, but, on the other hand, I am staying in the club I love, related to the sport I've been in all my life, so I am pleased'', said Bicanic for the club’s website.
The 34-year-old from Vukovar grew up into a player as we know him today in Croatian clubs Umag, Osijek Elektromodul, Agram Medvescak and PPD Zagreb. Due to the strong performances in domestic clubs, he got an opportunity to play for both Spanish Ademar Leon and French Chambery Savoie where he spent seven seasons.
Damir was also successful in a Croatian national jersey. He made more than 100 appearances for the national team, adding three bronzes and two silver medals to his treasury.
His contribution to the club's successes in our League is also unquestionable. In three seasons for 'Lions', he made 38 appearances and scored more than 100 goals.
It is not surprising that 'Bicko' stayed closed to the handball courts and we are sure that he will dedicate himself to his new position with the same devotion and passion he was showing before.
