Alonso: “Our goal remains the same - to reach SEHA Final 4“
Meshkov Brest - Beijing Sport University 41:23 (20:11)
(Baranau 9, Usik 13 saves / Wang 5, Qinglong 4)
Raul Alonso, Meshkov Brest coach:
I’d like to congratulate BSU because I know how tough it was for them to play two games in two days. We’ve simply had more options, better rotation while at the same time allowing some of our younger players to gain some international experience. We started the match well and kept on controlling the result. We know what is ahead of us and our goal remains the same – to reach SEHA F4.
Ilya Usik, Meshkov Brest player:
BSU kept on fighting despite of the result. It was a good experience for both teams in my opinion. Most important thing is we’ve both avoided injuries.
Vlado Sola, BSU coach:
I'd like to congratulate Meshkov on another good performance. I hope I'll next season be able to congratulate opponents on a good game but also be happy about the fact we won the match in the end. These two losses were in the end bigger than we expected and hoped they will be which is why we have to learn something and keep moving forward. This was our last SEHA game of the season which is why I'd like to use the opportunity to congratulate my players and say that we'll keep on working.
Qinglong Xie, BSU player:
First of all I’d like to thank our coaches who did a good job because we’ve really learned a lot from them. It was a great experience for us to play against so many quality European teams. Goal is to keep on progressing as a team for the next season.
