Dainis Kristopans leaves HC Vardar with immediate effect
Today, German Bundesliga club Füchse Berlin announced the signing of Dainis Kristopans, Latvian right back who was one of the players playing in SEHA – Gazprom League from the very beginning. Kristopans, who won the Final 4 MVP at the last SEHA – Gazprom League Final 4 tournament, spent last two and a half seasons in Skopje, playing for Vardar. Before Vardar, the 215 cm tall right back, played for Tatran Presov and Meshkov Brest.
During his stay with Vardar, Kristopans lifted the SEHA trophy twice, but also climbed the podium in Cologne, as Vardar won the EHF Champions League in 2018/19. In SEHA – Gazprom League, Kristopans emerged and grew into one of the best players in the world. Statistically, he is one of the best players in SEHA history, as he remains the second-top scorer in League's 9-year history, while also being the all-time leader in SEHA – Gazprom League matches played.
Kristopans will join his former Vardar teammates Dejan Milosavljev and Mijajlo Marsenic in Berlin until the end of the season. In the summer, he will join Paris Saint-Germain, as previously agreed by the player and the French club. Kristopans is the second SEHA player signed by the Germans this summer, as they also brought Javier Munoz Cabezon from Tatran Presov.
