Jandric explodes for 15 saves as Metaloplastika stun Veszprem
Telekom Veszprem have with a rejuvenated roster on Friday evening failed to come out on top against Metaloplastika in Sabac (26:30). Hungarians decided to come to Sabac with a rejuvenated roster led by a few experienced players like Strlek, Blagotinsek and Cupara as they will tomorrow already play their final SEHA Group Phase encounter of the year in Croatian capital against PPD Zagreb. However, the decision proved to be costly.
Guests opened the match better taking an early lead. They even managed to open the gap to four in the middle of the first but failed to keep it that way with hosts narrowing the gap and eventually taking over the lead. After first 30 hosts were already three goals up and it became obvious the miracle might actually happen.
Ten minutes into the second guests have managed to level themselves with highly-motivated Metaloplastika and the match entered a narrow finish with neither team managing to open the gap to more than two goals up until last few minutes. A little over five minutes before the end teams were levelled at 26:26 but after that Metaloplastika went on a deal-sealing 4:0 run which decided this one and secured hosts one of the most surprising and spectacular wins of the SEHA season so far.
Dejan Babic scored 6 goals, Kljajic and Dukic finished the match with four goals each while Jandric finished the match with 15 saves.
Strlek and Paczkowski were dominating the encounter finishing the match with nine goals each but that wasn't enough for Hungarians to secure three points in Sabac this time.
