PPD Zagreb once again dominant versus Spartak
PPD Zagreb have, for the second time this season, managed to convincingly defeat Russian Spartak. This time it was +13 (30:17) in a match which helped Croatian champs stay levelled with Meshkov Brest on League’s table.
‘Lions’ have two more matches ahead of them until the end of the regular part of the season while Meshkov have only one – the one they’ll play in Zagreb in five days which will most likely prove to be key in deciding who finishes second in SEHA League group B.
Hosts opened the match in a great way proving why they were given the favorite role in this one from the very first whistle. They were motivated, good in defense, focused and patient on offense opening the gap all the way to +8 (17:9) in the first half only. Three minutes into the second it was already plus +10 as it became obvious the deal has been sealed in this one. In the end 30:17 with Filip Vistorop leading the way offensively for his team scoring five and adding five assists.
Goalkeepers also played an important role for the ‘Lions’ with Radivoje Ristanovic and Arian Jovic combining for 14 saves. Danila Sazonov was on the other side the biggest threat for Zagreb in this one finishing the game with five goals. In the next round Zagreb will welcome Telekom Veszprem and Spartak will host North Macedonian vice-champions Eurofarm Rabotnik.
