Vardar looking to confirm No.1 against Tatran
Reigning SEHA champs Vardar need three points from upcoming two matches to confirm first position in Group A after the Group Phase of the season.
First chance will be at home on Monday (20.15 CET) against Tatran Presov. Vardar are still dealing with some injuries which is why coach Koksharov will once again have to add some of the younger players into the rotation and resolve all of the dillemas prior to the final match of the Group Phase in Nasice.
Six years ago Tatran have managed to win points in Skopje which was their only win in mutual encounters against North Macedonian giants. Despite of the fact which roster runs out on Monday evening ”Red&Black” are favorites but they will have to prove that on the court.
Eduard Koksharov, Vardar coach:
We've reached our goal of booking a place for ourselves in SEHA quarter-finals. We have two more matches ahead of us and main goal now is to try and stay on top prior to the winter break.
Dimitar Dimitrioski, Vardar player:
We all know that we'll on Monday play our final match in front of our fans in 2019. Goal is to play best we can and finish the regular part of the season in the best possible way. As always, our goal is to win.
Slavko Goluza, Tatran Presov coach:
We're entering this one after a tough match against Vojvodina a few days ago. Couple of our players suffered injuries and will most likely be out for this encounter against Vardar. We are in a difficult situation but we don't plan to surrender and we'll surely look to deliver a good fight and make it as hard as possible for Vardar.
Martin Stranovsky, Tatran Presov player:
With a narrow loss in Novi Sad behind us we are not travelling to Skopje as tourist but with an idea to play a good match. Considering all the roster problems we're dealing with our youngsters will have a chance to step up and prove what they're capable of. Difficult task is ahead of us but we have to play for each other.
