SEHA Derby victory for Tatran Presov
Slovakian Tatran Presov secured another big victory, this time on the home court. In the SEHA Derby, they were better than Serbian champions, Vojvodina 22:18 (13:10).
The guests opened the match with a goal from Branko Tomic and got in the lead. For the first 15 minutes of the match, the teams were mostly equal. Neither of them had more than one goal advantage. But then Tatran Presov's Javier Munoz Cabezon scored for 6:4. From that moment, the home team stepped up their play and didn't allow Vojvodina to take the lead. In the 23rd minute, Tatran were up by three goals for the first time in the match.
The home team opened the second half brilliantly. They scored three goals in a row and were up by 6 goals in the 35th minute. With some great saves from their goalkeeper and a few fastbreak goals, Vojvodina brought some drama to the court. As there were only 6 minutes until the end, Vojvodina were down by only one goal. But, Janus Lajapne and Leon Vucko soon scored for Tatran and made sure that the home team ended the match in a victorious way.
Unstoppable Javier Munoz Cabezon netted 10 times for Tatran Presov and was the best scorer in the squad. On the other side, Stefan Ilic carried Vojvodina with 8 goals.
In the next round Tatran Presov will host five-times SEHA champions, Vardar on the 1st of October while Vojvodina will host Ukrainian Motor Zaporozhye the same day.
