Roberto Garcia Parrondo takes over the Egypt national team
Big news came from the Egypt Handball Federation, as they announced that the current Vardar head coach will replace David Davis as the head coach of the Egypt national team. Roberto Garcia Parrondo will become the second consecutive Spanish coach for Egyptians, who will host the 2021 World Championship.
This is the second time Egypt have chosen a head coach that has worked closely with Raul Gonzalez, since Davis was his assistant in Vardar, when they won the EHF Champions League in 2017 and multiple SEHA – Gazprom League titles. Parrondo took over from Gonzalez this season at Vardar, but was also his assistant with the Macedonian national team at the recent World Championship where they finished 15th. Parrondo has proven to be extremely successful in Skopje, as Vardar won their 5th SEHA title and also qualified for the Champions League Final 4 for the third time in a row.
Egypt have high hopes for the next World Championship, as they will try to build on the recent success in Germany and Denmark, where they finished 8th.
