Veselin Vujovic leaves Zeleznicar 1949
After a 23:22 loss to Vojvodina in the Serbian Super League, Veselin Vujovic resigned at the head coach position at Zeleznicar from Nis. It was the club's second loss in opening four rounds, and Vujovic offered his resignation immediately after the match.
“I told the players that if we were to lose, I will offer my resignation. Last night I thanked them for cooperation. I stand behind it, I think this was a moral act after two losses, and after a long and difficult season”, said Vujovic at the press conference, for the club’s website.
Vujovic led Zeleznicar in their first ever SEHA – Gazprom League season, winning 16 points in 18 rounds, with a record of 5 wins, 1 draw and 12 losses, enough for the 8th place ahead of Metalurg and Izvidjac. This was Vujovic’s third SEHA club, after Vardar and PPD Zagreb, and he still remains the head coach of the Slovenian national team.
