Meshkov take revenge against NEXE as Djukic scores nine
In the last round of the regular part of SEHA Gazprom League season, Meshkov Brest managed to secure a 26:29 away win against NEXE in Nasice taking revenge for their loss against Croatian vice-champs in Belarus in the first part of the season.
Both teams have already secured a place for themselves on the final tournament scheduled for the beginning of April in Brest which means they today played without much pressure on their backs and without some of their key players.
Hosts were able to stay in front throughout the bigger part of the first opening the gap to three on a few occasions (7:4, 11:8). However, guests managed to make a late push in the first and as a result the result was levelled (17:17) after first 30.
Meshkov however opened the second much better enlarging the gap to five (18:23) in only nine minutes which proved to be the key for their win today. Coach Horvat later decided to give some of his younger players a chance to prove themselves and Belarusians were able to stay in absolute control of the result until the very end. Darko Djukic finished the match with nine while Halil Jaganjac scored five for NEXE.
