Battle for position No.8 in Nis
After 70 days, fans in Nis will on Wednesday (17:00 CET) once again have a chance to support their players in a match against Metalurg which coach Vujovic and his guys will most definitely look to win after they also managed to defeat Macedonian vice-champions in Skopje (29:30) earlier this season. Good outing in Presov and a one-goal defeat in the end (26:27) is another good sign for coach Vujovic. However, Metalurg will also be in good mood in Serbia after a 26:28 away win against Steaua.
Hosts still can count on four newly-signed players but they will most likely be in the roster for the next round in which Zeleznicar will travel to Bucharest.
Veselin Vujovic, Zeleznicar 1949 coach:
We’ll play a serious team which is obviously improving in form. They managed to win the match in Bucharest which not many teams managed to pull off so far this season. They have a roster full of quality players like Dupjachanec who started the season here in Nis but got injured as well as Slovenian Spende and several young players. It’s a serious team and they will be a tough opponent to face, no doubt about that. We’re happy we’ll once again have the opportunity to show our fans what we’ve been working on lately and hopefully celebrate.
Nemanja Zivkovic, Zeleznicar 1949 player:
We’ve obviously raised our form lately, no question about that. We proved it in Slovakia against Tatran where we played a good game despite of the final defeat. I think we’re in good shape and that Metalurg won’t stand a chance here on Wednesday when we’ll look to repeat what we did in Skopje back in autumn and once again come out on top.
Danilo Brestovac, Metalurg coach:
I demand focus and progress in every aspect of the game from my players each time we step out there. We have two training sessions behind us during which we did everything we could in order to adapt to the system of our rivals Zeleznicar.
Mario Tankoski, Metalurg player:
Tough match is ahead of us. Away matches are never easy but despite of everything we’ll give our best to stun our opponents in Nis.
