Brestovac: ‘I believe we can defeat Meshkov’
After an excellent outing against Vardar a few days ago, Metalurg’s players are more than ready for what’s waiting for them on Sunday (17.30 CET) when they will host Belarusian champs Meshkov Brest.
Meshkov are favorites in this one and not only because of the fact they are better positioned on League’s table but because they can no longer allow themselves to lose any points really in case they want to qualify for the final tournament which is why they are bringing a more experienced roster to Skopje.
Metalurg are on the other hand rising from match to match and they will surely be highly motivated in what will be their final home match this year. In the last round they proved everyone they are ready to stun favoured opponents and this will be another chance for them to go all the way.
Danilo Brestovac, Metalurg coach:
I expect my players to deliver a good performance and keep on improving. First we need to see what will Meshkov’ roster look like for this one. I expect them to bring more experienced players than they have usually been bringing to away matches so far this season. We’re on the other hand feeling some fatigue but I believe we can celebrate in this one.
Dimitar Dimitrioski, Metalurg player:
This will be our last home match of the season. We’re feeling a little tired after the long first part of the season and we do know how much quality players Meshkov have in their roster. However, we’re preparing for them and believe we can defeat them.
Andrey Mochalov, Meshkov assistant coach:
Metalurg have a young roster which already has Champions League experience. We’re aware of the fact they are improving from match to match despite of the fact they lost probably two of their most important players from the beginning of the season Jaganjac and Kuzmanovski. I believe we’re up to a tough, challenging match given the fact they always perform better at home. However, we’re travelling to Macedonia to win the match. We’ve decided to bring some more experienced players for this away match than before and our goal is to come out victorious.
Danila Viarheichyk, Meshkov player:
This is a highly-important match for us. Despite of the fact Metalurg are currently positioned ninth on the league table they are known to be the team that can play a competitive match against anyone and their most recent match against Vardar is a clear proof of that. We’ve prepared well for the match. In this one we’ll be able to count on some more experienced players but the young ones are also eager to prove what they’re capable of. It won’t be easy but our goal is to win three points.
