Zeleznicar defeat Steaua on wings of a strong defensive outing
Veselin Vujovic and his players have on Wednesday evening managed to reach their third SEHA Gazprom League victory of the season defeating Romanian representatives Steaua Bucharest 28:21.
Hosts opened the match better securing a three-goal lead (5:2) less than ten minutes into the encounter managing to keep the gap open, slowly enlarging it additionally, all the way until the end. Prior to the match coach Vujovic said they need their goalkeepers to step their game up and Darko Stosic responded in a great way grabbing 13 saves stopping over 40% of shots coming his way. As a result of that, Serbian vice-champions allowed Steaua only 21 goals in this one in what was probably their best defensive outing of the season. Aleksandar Pavlovic on the other side led their offense scoring six from just as much attempts while Predrag Vejin and Nemanja Milovanovic added four each. Krsto Milosevic netted six for guests while Sabin Constantina added four.
In the next round Zeleznicar will travel to Novi Sad to meet Vojvodina and Steaua will play Tatran in Presov.
