Bjelis: ''We'll fight Vardar courageously in Skopje!''
After winning an EHF Champions League point in Belarus last weekend, Vardar are already all set for a new challenge they'll face on Wednesday evening (20.45 CET) when they will host Izvidjac Ljubuski. It is clear four-time regional league champs are big favorites in this one not only because they are playing at home but also because Izvidjac coach Mario Bjelis decided to give some of his more experienced players some more time to rest taking younger ones to Macedonia. This will also be a good chance for Vardar's coach Roberto Parrondo to see what his younger players are capable of against a team which has on multiple occasions throughout the course of the season proved they can play solid, quality handball.
Roberto Parondo, Vardar coach:
We’re playing against bottom-placed team but if you look at their results closely you’ll notice they rarely lose by more than two or three goals which is why we must be fully focused from the very beginning. Every win is important for reaching our main goal and that is SEHA Final Four tournament. Players who usually don’t play as much will have a chance to prove themselves in this one.
Gregor Ocvirk, Vardar player:
We respect every opponent but our goal is to win each and every time we step out there. As coach already stated, us younger players will look to deliver a solid performance and give those who carry the burden in Champions League some more time to rest ahead of future challenges.
Mario Bjelis, Izvidjac coach:
There is no need for me to introduce Vardar to anyone However, I assure you we’ll fight them courageously, do everything we can and see what it brings us. Some of our older players will stay at home and those younger ones from our handball school will have chance to play against one of Europe’s strongest teams.
Matej Mandic, Izvidjac player:
It feels amazing to be in roster for this match. Until recently I could only watch them play on television and now I’ll face them which has always been my dream. We’re going to Skopje to play best we can, deliver best possible outing and see who it brings us.
