Reigning champions sign a player from Algeria
Since Vardar and Strahinja Milic parted ways in July, reigning SEHA – Gazprom League winners have been looking for a new goalkeeper. The pursuit is over, just before the start of the group phase of EHF Champions League matches.
The Macedonian champions signed a two year contract with the 21-year old goalie Khalifa Ghebdane from Algeria. He played for the Algerian national team at the Mediterranean Games and last year he played at the youth WCH. He is 200 cm tall and a very promising goalkeeper.
Ghebdane will be the first Algerian handball player that Vardar have ever recruited, and the first African player to play for any SEHA – Gazprom League team.
