Thriller celebration for NEXE in Ljubuski
NEXE have, a lot harder than expected, in an extremely interesting and narrow match managed to reach three new points defeating Izvidjac 23:24 in Ljubuski with hosts proving to be one of the most pleasant surprises after first two rounds of SEHA - Gazprom League’s eighth season.
Hosts opened the match better taking an early four-goal lead. NEXE were however able to cut the gap quite fast keeping the result leveled all the way until the half-time whistle (13:13). Defenses were dominating the encounter in the second half as it was clear both teams were eager to reach new points – NEXE in order to prove win over PPD Zagreb in the first round was no coincidence and Izvidjac in order to capitalize on another quality performance after they failed to do so in the first round versus Meshkov. A little less than five minutes before the final whistle, NEXE’s coach Hrvoje Horvat called a timeout at 22:22 after which one of Slavonian team’s best players from the first round Tomi Vozab and Albin Eter scored two goals bringing Croatian vice-champs three more important points against Izvidjac Ljubuski who have once again proved they will be a tough opponent for everyone this season despite the fact they failed to keep their focus in final nine seconds when Mihailo Radovanovic stopped Vedran Delic’ shot to seal the deal in this one.
Vedran Zrnic scored five for NEXE while Vasilije Kaludjerevic netted as much for Izvidjac. Goran Andjelic had 13 saves.
