The Belarusian champions have won the national title for the 10th time in their history last season. They have also made it out of their Champions League group and played at the SEHA - Gazprom League Final 4 in Skopje. No one can deny that Meshkov Brest enjoyed a terrific season, but let’s not forget their struggles with injuries as the 2017/18 season was drawing to a close. Key players like Shkurinskiy, Stojkovic, Djordjic and Igropulo all had to miss a significant portion of the season, which prevented Meshkov to achieve even better results.

The summer brought many changes to their roster and the club, overall. They have added a star to their logo, representing their 10th title in the Belarusian championship, but also brought in some new players. Sime Ivic joined the club from Orlen Wisla Plock, Darko Djukic came in from PGE Vive Kielce, Sandro Obranovic was welcomed to the club from Chambery. Meshkov Brest have also signed the Belarusian Aliaksandr Bachko. On the other hand, there have been many departures from the club. The captain Nikulenkau moved to SKA Minsk, so the captain’s armband now belongs to Siarhei Shylovich. Ljubo Vukic and Rastko Stojkovic who have been in the club for many years have both left. Prodanovic, Igropulo, Mijatovic and Astrashapkin are from this season also former players of Meshkov Brest. It was definitely a head-turning summer in Brest!

To make things even more interesting, Meshkov Brest have a new coach, too. Manolo Cadenas replaced Sergey Bebeshko who achieved some of the most valuable successes in club history. The experienced Spanish coach will definitely be motivated to continue the tradition of winning trophies in Brest, but will be hoping to add another one to their collection. As Meshkov’s side has perhaps never been stronger and Vardar losing many key players, the SEHA - Gazprom League title is a realistic goal for them.

The Belarusians will have to face similar problems as they did in the past few years. Despite the size of their roster, it is always difficult to compete in three strong competitions- the national championship, SEHA - Gazprom League and EHF Champions League. Baring in mind any injuries, Meshkov Brest could be up for a historic season. Somehow they have always been close and needed just a little bit to make that extra step forward. With new additions, a refreshed squad and an experienced coach that little bit might be here this season. Meshkov Brest are here, hungry, motivated and eager to enjoy a lot of success in the 2018/19 season!
