Metalurg edge Celje as Jaganjac reaches 100 goals
In what was the final match of the regular part of the season for both teams and a match with no significant meaning for either side, Metalurg celebrated a narrow 28:26 win at home over Slovenian champs Celje PL. Metalurg will finish the season on seventh position, Celje PL on third. It is interesting that this was the second time for Metalurg to beat SEHA F4 contestants this season after defeating Meshkov ten days ago.
Halil Jaganjac scored 5 goals today finishing the season with 100 having ten-goal advantage ahead of Bruno Butorac who will later today play his final match of the season and obviously try to catch Metalurg’s ‘wunderkind’ in SEHA regular season scoring title race.
Guests arrived to Skopje without five first-team players but even despite of that they were able to maintain control of the match throughout the bigger part of the first half. However, about five minutes before the half-time whistle, Celje’s coach Branko Tamse started rotating the lineup and hosts knew how to take advantage of that turning the result in their favor. Celje however managed to get back into it at 23:23 with less than ten minutes left to play but when Vanja Ilic turned their turnover into a goal for Metalurg’s 28:26 lead with less than a minute to play it was clear the deal was sealed. Filip Kuzmanovski scored six for Metalurg, Domen Makuc, Daniel Dujshebaev and Gal Marguc five each for Celje.
