Ferlin and Zaponsek combine for 21 saves in Gorenje’s win over Metalurg
Routine 37:25 (21:13) win for Gorenje Velenje at home against Metalurg. Such a dominance might not have been expected, especially knowing the fact that Metalurg did a good job in Zagreb in the last round making hosts seriously struggle in order to keep three points at home but when a team misses only five shots in first 50 minutes of the clash and their goalies combine for remarkable 21 saves in the end, which is exactly what hosts did tonight, it is hard to expect any other outcome than a dominant victory.
Klemen Ferlin had an amazing night with 15 saves, Nejc Cehte and Blaz Klec scored six each, Rok Golcar added five as well as Matic Verdinek. Vanja Ilic netted eight on the other side and Filip Kuzmanovski added seven but with less than 50% shot efficiency.
With this win Gorenje managed to narrow the gap to only a two-point difference between themselves and Celje at least until tomorrow and Celje's home match against Dinamo. Metalurg remain seventh with 16 points.
