Pesic shines with 16 saves as Meshkov cruise through Nasice
Meshkov Brest managed to stay on Final 4 track taking a dominant 29:19 win in Nasice only two days after a triumph in Pancevo. In the end 19:29 for Bebeshko and his guys who were today flying on wings of Ivan Pesic and his 16 saves.
Guests opened the match furiously opening the gap to six less than ten minutes into the match. NEXE managed to cut it a little reaching only minus three but after that Meshkov once again made 5:0 series and the deal was more-less sealed. Home-team’s power-play offense proved to be costly in this one allowing guests to score easy goals enlarging the gap way too early.
In the second half fans in Nasice could for the first time see Matjaz Brumen playing for their team but it was a bad debut occasion really with Meshkov having double digit lead less than five minutes into the second (10:20). NEXE will now have to find the right tactics and prepare thoroughly for the match against Finnish side Cocks next Sunday as a part of EHF Cup Round 2.
Pesic had 16 saves and was man of the match today. Rutenka added 6 goals while on the other side Sipic once again led the team from Nasice with 5. Pilipovic added 11 saves.
