Sipic shines in the second half as NEXE snatch a point in Velenje
After a 24:24 draw in their premier encounter of the season in Nasice, match between Slovenian and Croatian vice -champions Gorenje Velenje and NEXE Nasice once again ended with teams sharing points. In the end 30:30 after Marin Sipic netted one for NEXE only three seconds before the final buzzer.
NEXE were given an underdog role ahead of this one but it did not look that way at all today in Rdeca dvorana in Velenje. Defenses were not brilliant on either side today but guests delivered an outstanding performance in attacking transition which in the end brought them a point which is not that important as is this draw in general for their self-confidence ahead of the second part of the season. Guests were one goal up after first 30 (13:14) and the main reason was Perica Lelic and his outstanding nine saves in only the first half. Klemen Ferlin on the other side responded well having 13 saves today but that was not enough for his team to celebrate.
Marin Sipic delivered an amazing role in the second half and was key factor for his team to have two-goal advantage during the bigger part of that period. And when it already seemed like NEXE will take full bags with them to Nasice, Gorenje made a 4:0 series and the match entered a narrow finish in which NEXE's line players Sipic and Tomic managed to keep their focus scoring final four goals for guests.
Upper mentioned Sipic scored 6 for NEXE as well as Buvinic while on the other side Pejovic netted as much for Gorenje.
In the next round Gorenje will travel to Novi Sad to meet Vojvodina and NEXE will welcome Meshkov Brest.
