Dibirov: "Opponents did a good job slowing us down”
Meshkov Brest - Vardar 25:25 (12:12)
(Shkurinskiy 4, Vukic 4; Pesic 14 saves / Dibirov 8; Sterbik 11 saves)
Raul Gonzalez, Vardar coach:
We've known it won't be easy to play here in Brest. We experienced problems in attack tonight both in the first and second half. The result was leveled throughout the biggest part of the match and that's why I believe we must be satisfied with this draw. We are in good position and must work to keep on with that rhythm.
Timur Dibirov, Vardar player:
Amazing atmosphere here tonight really. Good match in my opinion, we wanted to play better than we actually did tonight. Opponents did a good job slowing us down. I guess final score is realistic and I congratulate Brest on the draw here tonight.
Sergey Bebeshko, Meshkov Brest coach:
I'd like to thank the fans, they helped us a big deal. It wasn't easy to play against Vardar tonight, they are a top team. Our attack was not good enough but we were aware we must try to use a great day Pesic had today making some great saves. Without him they would have probably enlarged the gap early into the match. We missed Horak in defense and lost Shkurinskiy after a nasty fall as we decided not to risk anything getting him back in because we still have a match to play on Saturday. The result is in the end fair and realistic.
Aleh Astrashapkin, Meshkov Brest player:
Brilliant atmosphere, it was superb. We did make some technical mistakes late into the game which in the end resulted with a tense finish but the draw is a good result for us as well.
