Thriller in Celje ends with a draw
Zlatorog Arena in Celje hosted one of the most interesting matches of SEHA Gazprom League’s seventh season in which Nexe managed to secure a draw against Celje Pivovarna Lasko. In the end it was 27:27 (12:12) with both teams failing to score in their final attacks. First Branko Tamse called a time-out with only 14 seconds left in the game but his players committed a technical mistake giving Nexe a chance to completely stun Slovenians. After that Hrvoje Horvat used his green card with 6 seconds left on the clock but, as it was later obvious, that period was not enough for his players to endanger Aljaz Pantjar who replaced Urban Lesjak between Celje’ posts after Slovenian number one choice got sent off 5 minutes into the second half after a rough foul ten meters away from his goal. With him out and Celje’s long injury list with names like Mitrovic, Mackovsek and Mlakar on it Croatian vice-champions were given a good chance to take valuable points home to Slavonia.
Barisic-Jaman led Nexe with 7, Gal Marguc scored as much for Slovenians. Tough, narrow match in which both teams gave their best and deserved at least a point.
