Nexe go through to Round 3 of the EHF Cup
Similar to most SEHA teams, Nexe were also in action this
weekend. The team from Nasice played the second leg of the EHF Cup
qualification round 3. They beat the Estonian Polva Serviti 32:21, doing a
great job in the second half of their home match.
Nexe were the favorites heading into the match and they were very much aware of that. The team looked motivated and ready to prove why deserve a place in the group stage of this competition. They started slow, unable to grab and hold onto the lead and we entered the second half with a score of 12:12.
However, the second half was a whole different story. The goals started coming, defense did their bit and the lead kept getting larger and larger. Polva, on the other side, could not get anything to go, as they finished the game with under 50% of shot efficiency. Zrnic and Sipic led the Croatian vice-champions to a well-deserved victory with 5 goals each. Barisic-Jaman, Srsen and Tomic added 4 each to confirm the victory. Nexe won the match 32:21, and won the double header with a score of 59:46.
All in all, Nexe did a good job in this double header, earning the victory knowing they were the favorites and a better team. Polva left a positive impression, maybe even coming across better than Nexe thought they were. The Croatian team will now have their eyes on the round 3; knowing they had no luck with the draw in the last 2 seasons as they played Nantes and Magdeburg, losing both times. Tatran Presov are also playing in the qualification round 3, after losing the battle for the Champions League.
