EHF Cup - Nexe ready for the second leg against Polva
After Vojvodina's defeat to Pfadi Winterhur, Nexe are now the only SEHA team to feature in the second qualification round of the EHF Cup. The Croatian vice-champions have won the first match in Estonia 27:25 and will now look to book a ticket for the next round.
After a good match and a hard-fought win in Estonia, Nexe are now back in Croatia and prepared themselves for another tough battle against Polva. The Estonians put on a good display, perhaps even surprising some people with a pretty good performance.
However, Sasa Barisic Jaman is well aware that Nexe are the favorites and made that very clear in a statement for the Nexe website: 'Polva are not a bad side. Not at all. They might be the hardest opponent we have ever faced in the second round of the EHF Cup. At least that is my opinion based on all this years I am with Nexe. This is a good team, filled with good players who have been together for a long time, almost playing like a well rehersed orchestra. They deserve respect. We are happy with the result from the first leg, but not with the way we played. There is a lot of room for a development. I do not even want to think of a scenario different than the one in which we go through to the next round. We have to show them who the boss is, we must win on Saturday in Nasice.'
Nexe's goal is very clear this season - they want to get to the group stage of the EHF Cup. After a win in Estonia, they will undoubtedly be very motivated to beat them again and safely secure a spot in the third qualifying round. The Croatian vice-champions were knocked out in the third round the last two seasons - by Magdeburg and Nantes, has the time finally come for them to reach the group stage?
