Gonzalez: "Metalurg have good, young roster which will need some time to get better"
Metalurg - Vardar 23:32 (11:16)
(Pesevski 5, Andelic 4 / Dibirov 5, Maqueda 4, Borozan 4)
Lino Cervar, Metalurg coach:
I’d like to congratulate Vardar, I believe they really are a better team at the moment. We were able to stay close until a certain moment in which their both quality and experience became visible deciding the duel. By that we were also, because of injury problems, forced to experiment with younger players. Jaganjac is also dealing with an injury and there was simply not much we could do today but congratulate Vardar.
Zarko Pesevski, Metalurg player:
Of course, I have to congratulate Vardar on a good match and a big win in the end. We’ve played a bad match with simply too many technical mistakes to deal with such an opponent. Our younger team will surely need some time for everything to start functioning the way it has to. I also have to thank our fans for being here for us today.
Raul Gonzales, Vardar coach:
This was a tough match for us at the moment as every first official match of the season always is. Metalurg delivered a solid performance today but we were able to take advantage of some of our counter-attacks which eventually proved to be a match-deciding factor in this one. Metalurg have a good, young roster which will need some time to get better. They have to be patient.
Strahinja Milic, Vardar goalkeeper:
We were well focused throughout all 60 minutes and that was good. It is clear that we’re at the moment not in the best playing form, the one we’d like to be in but I believe we’ll grow as the season goes. I wish Metalurg all the best in upcoming matches and challenges.
