Meshkov focusing on F4 battle in SEHA Gazprom League
Мешковцы фокусируют внимание на «финале четырех» SEHA-Газпром-Лиги
After the end of the first part of
EHF Champions League season, Meshkov are now ready to focus on catching a place
that would secure them a place on SEHA F4 tournament. First of the upcoming
tough matches is the one at home against Metalurg. Lino Cervar and his boys
have already proved to be a tough matchup for Meshkov this season losing with
only 1 goal difference at home and now having big motivation to go at least a
step further.
This time Metalurg are traveling to Brest with a lot of injured problems without hopes on qualifying for F4 tournament. Meshkov are on the other side fourth with 20 points, two more than fifth Celje PL.
Sergey Bebeshko, Meshkov coach:
The game is very important for us with regard to the table. We must win it in order to have good chances for Final 4. Metalurg are progressing. Recent games in CL are proving it as they are putting in fight against anyone. There should be no underestimation on our side.
Andrey Yurynok, Meshkov player:
Metalurg are a strong team eager to fight. It'll not be easy to win. Macedonian team is in good shape. Guys from Skopje are playing well recently and are proving they can cope with anyone. We are aware that we should go for all three points in order to keep F4 hopes alive.
Lino Cervar, Metalurg coach:
We are playing as guests against a very strong opponent which is playing excellent this season and certainly is one of the candidates for League’s final tournament. Belarusian champions are favorites in this match, especially because we have a long list of injured players and are also tired from the journey to Logrono. But, despite of all problems, my young players will try to play best they can and fight for every ball, as always. We will try to run some plays we’re working on lately and show improvement. Still, I will say one more time, Meshkov are favorites.
Martin Velkovski, Metalurg player:
We are traveling to Brest without any pressure or imperative to win. Meshkov Brest is an extremely strong team that will certainly play on the final tournament this season so we know that we are in for difficult 60 minutes. We’re lately delivering some attractive performances and that’s exactly what we’ll try to do in Brest and of course see whether that’s going to be enough for a positive result or not. Anyhow, we’re going to Brest with a wish to give our best and even go beyond our limits.
