Kordi sacked by NEXE, Ergovic: ''It's been a great eight-year long cooperation!''
Another coaching change in SEHA Gazprom League with NEXE sacking Zdenko Kordi. Club's leaders have decided to look for an alternative after a big 9-goal loss against Magdeburg in EHF Cup. Kordi came to NEXE back in 2008 working as sports director all the way until 2013 when he took the coaching role. During that time NEXE were recognized as a quality member of SEHA Gazprom League and a tough rival for anyone. They have even managed to qualify themselves for League's Final tournament back in 2014/15 in Veszprem. Kordi's assistant Franjo Lelic will lead the team until club leaders decide who will become NEXE's new coach.
Josip Ergovic, NEXE president:
We have ambition to be side by side with best teams in the League. We've raised the bar higher this season but results and performances in general are worse than expected this season. We've agreed with coach Kordi that only coaching change can influence the team in a positive way. However, I would like to thank Zdenko Kordi for great eight years in our club and excellent cooperation.
Zdenko Kordi, former NEXE coach:
For me it was a great experience working in NEXE. In last few years we've had some good results but this season we lack continuity. I would like to thank all players, staff and my co-workers as well as NEXE's fans and all good people in Nasice. Especially, I'd like to thank president Josip Ergovic and his family.
