Veszprem part company with Ortega
SEHA Gazprom League's champions Veszprem are looking for a new coach. Reigning Champions League's finalists have decided to part company with Spanish coach Antonio Carlos Ortega after three successful years. Decision was made after EHF Champions League's opening match versus Orlen Wisla Plock which has ended with a draw.
Antonio Carlos Ortega came to Veszprem in 2012 as a replacement for legendary Hungarian coach Lajos Mocsai. He led the team towards all major domestic trophies - Championship, Cup and Super Cup in the past three seasons, including the Super Cup in season behind us.
With him on the bench, Veszprem have participated twice on Cologne' Final Four finishing fourth back in 2014 and losing in finals against Barcelona last year. Hungarians have also reached finals on IHF's Super Globe little more than a week ago.
One of the major successes was wining SEHA Gazprom League's trophy in previous season with an impressive 19-1 score in regular season.
Xavi Sabate will lead the team until club's leaders find the right replacement.
