F4 SPECIAL Three questions for four coaches

F4 Zg Var

Just before the F4 we have decided to ask this season's four F4 coaches three questions. Here is how they estimate their team's form but also their semi-final opponents.

SEHAGSS: How do you estimate team's form before the Final Four tournament?

PETER HATALCIK (Tatran): We still need to get into optimal form. Untill last weekend we were playing on 4 battlefields (Slovak Extraliga, Slovak Cup, SEHA GSS League and Men's EHF Cup. It surely did make our players quite tired. We have to continue Slovak Extraliga and Slovak Cup too. We did not qualify for quarter-finals in Men's EHF Cup so it gives us a little bit more space for preparation for SEHA GSS League's Final Four Tournament. Hopefully we will be able to tune up our playing form by the beginning of this tournament.

BORIS DVORSEK (CO Zagreb): I am sure that we will be well prepared just in time for the F4 in Novi Sad. If you remember last year's F4 in Skopje then you know that Zagreb is always in good form before decisive matches. This year, as well as last year, we are the underdogs but that doesn't have to mean anything. If we manage to play hard defense like we did last year in Skopje then we can defeat anyone on the tournament. Unlike other F4 participants we've had almost a whole konth to prepare for it and it might in the end be a decisive factor. We are aware that our opponents are financially far ahead of us and that they have much more solutions on the bench, but we are coming to Novi Sad as the reigning SEHA GSS League's champions and we will give our best to defend this title.

RAUL GONZALES (Vardar): Each team has had enough time to prepare for the tournament in the best possible way. I think we're going to enjoy great handball games.

ZELJKO BABIC (Meshkov): I believe that my team will be in a great form for SEHA GSS League's final tournament.. We've had two weeks to prepare, I think it was enough to catch the right rhytm. It was hard to keep the form furing the season due to tough schedule and long journeys, but I believe these two weeks were enough for us to prepare to give our best performance.

SEHAGSS: What do you think of your semi-final opponent?

PETER HATALCIK (Tatran): Meshkov Brest is a very strong team with very good players. They've proved it by getting into Final Four Tournament. Even though we won both matches this season I think it is not going to be an easy match. We have to prepare for this match physically and mentally as well.

BORIS DVORSEK (CO Zagreb): Vardar is a fantastic team. Along with Zagreb, Macedonians are the only team which has managed to win the League. They've also played in the final last year and that is just another proof that they are a great handball team. This season they are performing very on both levels, SEHA league and the Champions league. Defeating European champions Hamburg in Germany is very hard and I find them as number one favorites for the title this year.

RAUL GONZALES (Vardar): They have a good young team with several young players that will in few years be top. They play fast handball with hard defense, and they have very good shooters.

ZELJKO BABIC (Meshkov): I believe that final standings after the regular part of the championship say enough about Tatrab's strenght. They are a great team which has been playing together for a long time and it it their biggest plus. Great players on all positions.

SEHAGSS: Which team do you see as main favorite for the title?

PETER HATALCIK (Tatran): Each team has proved they deserve to be on Final Four. This is going to be about one or two matches on neutral court, current form and feelings so I would not like to predict anything.

BORIS DVORSEK (CO Zagreb): As I've already said Vardar is number one favorite for me. Of course that this doesn’t mean that the other three teams don’t have a chance in Novi Sad. I have a lot of respect for both Tatran Presov and Brest Meshkov, but if I have to pick one, my choice is Vardar.

RAUL GONZALES (Vardar): I think all four clubs are on the similar level. There is no main favorite and I believe it will be a very interesting tournament.

ZELJKO BABIC (Meshkov):  It's hard to pic a favorite. In my opinion, Vardar has a little advantage over the other three teams due to their current CL performances and form.
